A new chapter opens in Zimbabwe’s modelling scene with the launch of “Misters of Zimbabwe,” a male modelling pageant established by Chris Ncube and Nyasha Shepherd Chinyuku.

Ncube and Chinyuku are no strangers to the world of modelling, boasting experience working with international organizations like Man of the World, Mister Global, and Miss Universe Zimbabwe. Their ambition for Misters of Zimbabwe is clear: to create a leading platform for male models and propel Zimbabwe onto the international stage.

“We aim to establish the best pageant for men in the country, filling a gap that has existed in recent years,” Ncube explains. “Our ultimate goal is to become Africa’s powerhouse pageant, consistently securing at least one international win or top placement for Zimbabwean models every year.”

The duo emphasizes a critical aspect – the need for equal opportunities in the modelling industry.

“Male models often feel overlooked on the international platform,” Ncube states. “These opportunities have the potential to be life-changing, and this is where Misters of Zimbabwe steps in.” He further highlights how the lack of such opportunities can negatively impact young men. “While girls have received wider support in the industry, boys have been left feeling isolated and underrepresented. We believe offering them similar opportunities can empower them to become positive forces in society.”

The response to the inaugural Misters of Zimbabwe has been positive, with over 100 initial applications. After a rigorous selection process, only seven finalists remain. On March 8th, Beit Bridge, the hometown of former Mister Zimbabwe Adonis Ncube, will have the honor of hosting the first-ever Misters of Zimbabwe finale, marking a historic occasion for the border town.

The seven finalists – Royce Gavi, Nyasha Mutukura, Thulani Sibanda, Hillary Mandaba, Zibusiso Mtshayisa, Mike Khalipha, and Tinashe Mtisi – have been tested in various categories, including beachwear, swimwear, formal wear, and traditional attire. The anticipation is high as Zimbabwe prepares to witness the crowning of its first Mister Zimbabwe through this exciting new pageant.
