Bulawayo Arts Awards were hosted on the 24th of December and the ceremony was set aside to celebrate the contribution which was and is being made by Arts in the city.

Artists in Bulawayo have managed to contribute in the country’s economy and tourism industry with the arts and culture sector.

Wearing the gliting and glamourous designs, artists from all sectors in the world of arts attended the annual ceremony of Bulawayo Arts Awards’s sixth edition.

The ceremony which was headlined by prominent artists including upcoming artists such as the 13 year old, Andrea The Vocalist who derives from the majestic town of Victoria Falls which is situated to the North of Bulawayo Province which is Matabeleland North.

Andrea won the hearts of many when he performed his prominent song Uhambo and the crowd made a sing-along when he was performing.

During the handover of the gongs, Andrea was awarded the Newcomer of The Year (All Geners).

Andrea once appeared in a documentary which was broadcasted by BBC and he said as a form of punishment for being naughty he had to sing to the church congregants.

The video of Andrea singing which appears in the documentary and was recorded by one of the members of the church congregation where he fellowships and caught the attention of many artists, including regional and international artists including namely Dj Maphorisa and Aubrey Qwana.

Andrea was discovered by  Tendai Joe the brainchild of JBross entertainment and with the availability of social media it has played a major role for him to reach international network. His gong comes with  a package of 35 thousand rands worth of sponsorship which will be used for travel and creation of works in Eswatini.

Meanwhile, Msi’zkay was recognized as the man of the moment as he won the song of the year for his song ‘Kulula’ which featured Bhekiwe and won many hearts.

Msi’zkay was also awarded the People’s choice which meant he also walked away, with a fully serviced residential stand.
