Courtney Jongwe, a dedicated fifth-year student majoring in Chemical and Processing Engineering at Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences, found her passion of modeling through her role as a peer educator. This experience not only ignited her interest in fashion world but also highlighted her dedication to empowering those around her.
Her advocacy journey took flight when she led her institution in the SAYWHAT Debate Challenge, ultimately emerging as the face of it’s 7th edition. With strong commitment to environmental issues and public health, Courtney also held the title of Miss Environment Zimbabwe, reinforcing her role as beacon of hope for her country.
In a dazzling ceremony held on the 30th of November 2024 in Borrowdale, Harare, Courtney was crowned Miss World Zimbabwe, marking significant milestone not only in her life but also for the youth of our nation. This prestigious title symbolizes the strength, resilience and potential of young Zimbabweans who aspire to create a positive impact in their communities.
Courtney’s victory in the Miss World Zimbabwe competition is a testament to her hard work and dedication.The contest featured 11 talented contestants from across the nation, each representing best of Zimbabwe. In a rigorous series of challenges, contestants competed head-to -head, with seven finalists selected to move forward. As tension mounted, the competition narrowed down to final five, where Courtney ultimately emerged victorious, earning not only the crown but also a cash prize of US$500 and a ticket to represent Zimbabwe at esteemed 72nd Miss World Festival. Additionally, she won a new car, that is yet to be revealed.
As Courtney embarks on this remarkable journey to represent Zimbabwe among other fifteen African representatives that are expected to participate in the Miss World competition, which is scheduled to take place early next year on the global stage. Jongwe’s crown is not a personal triumph ; it is a call to action for the youth of our nation to embrace their passions, advocacy for change and pursue excellence with purpose and pride. “During her recent media tour, she expressed her commitment to using her platform to inspire and help community to achieve their dreams and fight depression and stress.“
