Story By Nico Abote: Kananaskis Country came alive with camaraderie, competition, and community impact as the African Canadian Golfers Club (ACGC) hosted its 13th Annual Golf Tournament on July 26th, 2025. With 100 golfers gathering under rainy and clear summer skies packed in one, the event combined the thrill of the game with the joy of giving back. Without neither thunder nor lightning, a little rain could not deter the determined golfers.

“This year’s tournament has come and gone, but the memories will last forever,” said Vincent Onwuka, President of ACGC. “We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, both first-time participants and our returning friends, for making it a truly memorable occasion.”

Beyond the friendly competition, the tournament had a profound purpose. Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, and donors, ACGC proudly donated $7,000 to the Calgary Community Kitchen, a vital organization that supports local families in need.

The day saw spirited play across the scenic Kananaskis course, culminating in exciting victories and heartfelt celebrations for all winners and award recipients. “Your energy and sportsmanship made the tournament competitive, fun, and meaningful,” Onwuka added.

Looking ahead, the club is already planning its 14th Annual Tournament, set for Saturday, July 25, 2026, again in the stunning backdrop of Kananaskis. Golfers and supporters are encouraged to mark their calendars early and be part of an event where every swing makes a difference.
