He has been headlining several festivals during this spring season, and among the festivals Josh Meck has headlined include the Folklore Festival in South Africa held last month.
Josh Meck a Zimbabwean musician who is prominently known for being a Jazz bass guitarist, described the Folklore Festival as a platform that brings people from all four corners under one roof to celebrate different cultures through art.
“It’s a celebration of cultural Heritage of people from different backgrounds in Africa,” he said.
The festival hosted artists from across the continent, countries that include Mozambique, Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe among others.
Josh said it’s important for artists to be part of such events. He also added that this to them will be a cultural exchange programme and they will gain knowledge about other countries allowing them to improve their careers and create collaborations.
Josh managed to also perform live at the SABC Morning Live show. Days ago, he headlined the Jazz Music Festival which was hosted in Bulawayo. He has promised a few tours before the year ends, as he is working on an album which he said will be released soon.
When questioned about the lifestyle of South Africa’s music sector, he informed, My Afrika Magazine that one of the things he observed was that South Africa is keen in welcoming new types of music genres and they are accommodating artists not because of the prominence but talent. Turning to how 2023 has been to him, he described the year as a year of his achievements and blessings, as he was awarded the Best Jazz album at the ZIMA Awards.
He informed this publication that it is important for any artist who has done well to be recognised with a gong.
Josh further said an award because a mouthpiece of any artist before they introduce themselves to event organisers international as it acts like a CV.
