One of Southern Africa’s biggest and most followed fashion shows in Africa, South Africa fashion week had its doors opened on the 20th of April and the curtains came down on the 23rd of April.
The three-day event saw fashion designers from South Africa, Mozambique, and other International countries exhibiting their products.
“The cross-border regional meeting of fashion minds represents a significant opportunity to advance a responsible and sustainable vision in the development process of the fashion industry in both Mozambique and South Africa. It is an initiative that will undoubtedly help create jobs for young people and encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in our collective industries,” says Vasco Rocha founder of MFW.
Some of the activities included the Mr Price Talent Search, exhibition, marketplace and Cruz party, etc.
The event began with the Mr Prize Talent Show search for S.A Fashion Week Season 23. The ceremony is held annually at S.A F.W and was conducted at the Mall Of Africa where the South Africa Fashion Week was being hosted.
Gonsolves was announced as the winner of this year’s MR Price Talent Search Competition.
Gonsolves is a fashion brand based in Capetown that specializes in women’s wear and was one of the finalists in David Tlale’s reality series,’ The Intern by David Tlale’. Her brand has been showcased in Namibia and during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Wrapping the Talent Search Show was the winner of the MR Prize Talent Show S/S22, Thando Ntuli who showcased her collections “Isikhathi/TimeSS 23 Munkus Collection.
Apart from the Talent Search show, was the Cruz party which was hosted by the Cruz Vintage Black Vodka which was hosted at Level Three Premium in Sandton. In attendance were fashion designers including Scalo, Fundunzi, and Mzuksi Mbane, who were joined by celebrities and Mister Supranational SA candidates.
Enhle Mbali Maphumulo, and Imprint (Mzuksi Mbane), were joined by the owner of the renowned Africa Rise retail collective for SA Designers, Thula Sindi, and other prominent SA Designers who showcased their collections.
The collaboration between South Africa and Mozambique Fashion Week awarded at least three Mozambican designers: Chibaia, Mabenna, and Cuccla gracing the event along with four models (Rachel Mbiza, Chantel Tomo, Russel Antonio) from Mozambique cat-walking the SA Fashion Week.
