Multi award winning designer, Tapfumanei Munenge created his latest Zimbabwe Fashion Week 2026 collection for a woman who can spend an afternoon in Avondale and another on a yacht in Mykonos.
Named Humambo Hutsva, meaning “New Kingdom,” the collection was showcased on 10 October. Inspired by the peacock’s renewal of its feathers, it explores reinvention, femininity and a softer expression of luxury.
“The peacock represents renewal, and that is the idea I wanted to bring into this collection,” Munenge said.
“I wanted to create something for a confident woman who appreciates elegance and can move between different settings without losing her identity.”
The collection featured a blush-pink chiffon gown with delicate embroidery, alongside white and blue resort wear. Off-shoulder balloon sleeves and wide-legged linen trousers balanced relaxed silhouettes with structured details.
The award winning designer, Munenge, moved beyond the peacock’s familiar blue and green, choosing blush pink, ivory, sage green, white and sky blue. The palette softened the designs while retaining their natural inspiration.
According to Munenge, the peacock is a symbol of change, not a pattern to copy. His next challenge is taking this vision beyond Zimbabwe Fashion Week and into the wardrobes of the women for whom it was created.
