Zimbabwean cricket star Sikandar Raza has become the country’s most-capped international cricketer, making his 314th appearance during the third T20 International against Bangladesh at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The milestone sees Raza surpass former captain Hamilton Masakadza, who retired with 313 international caps. Fittingly, the record came against Bangladesh at the same venue where Raza made his One-Day International debut on 3 May 2013.

Over a distinguished international career spanning more than a decade, Raza has represented Zimbabwe in 22 Test matches, 156 One-Day Internationals and 136 T20 Internationals, establishing himself as one of the nation’s greatest all-rounders.

Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani praised the achievement, describing it as a testament to Raza’s professionalism, resilience and unwavering commitment to the national team.

“To represent your country even once is a privilege. To do so 314 times is an extraordinary accomplishment and a reflection of Sikandar’s exceptional skill, professionalism, resilience and remarkable longevity at the highest level,” said Mukuhlani.

The record adds to an already remarkable career. Earlier this month, Raza became only the fifth Zimbabwean to score 9,000 international runs across all formats. He is also the first player from an ICC Full Member nation to combine 3,000 T20 International runs with 100 T20I wickets, underlining his impact with both bat and ball.

Among his many achievements, Raza remains Zimbabwe’s first T20I centurion, the country’s first player to surpass 5,000 career T20 runs, and a former world No. 1 all-rounder in both the ICC ODI and T20I rankings. He has also been named Zimbabwe’s Sportsperson of the Year twice, in 2023 and 2025.
