shiv is a DJ turned singer-songwriter and producer based in Dublin, Ireland. She was born in Zimbabwe and then moved to Ireland at the age of five. She recently returned to Zimbabwe after fifteen years where she worked on a new song which honours her heritage and ancestry. 

shiv comes from a musical family and describes her music as a mix of R’n’B, Hip Hop with elements of Soul and Neo Soul. Her introduction to the music industry was almost unconventional, she was set on working in educational psychology after studying psychology at college. After a Maid of Honour Speech turned into a song which she uploaded on YouTube, she was scouted. Her lifelong passion and hobby had now become a career. She has released singles such as “Golden” which speaks of escape. In the music video to accompany the song, the singer walks majestically, almost like an ethereal being on a beach at sunset. She demonstrates the soulfulness and smooth texture of her voice in the song. Another outstanding song from her catalogue includes “How Small of you” which was released in 2021. Lyrically, the song speaks of a complicated and difficult relationship. Her 2023 song “Heavy Water” is a soulful song which has found its way into the hearts of many listeners with rawness of her lyrics and her evocative voice. 

Shiv released her debut album ‘the defiance of a sadgirl’ in 2024 which she also had a hand in producing. The record came at a time of great loss and transition in the singer’s life having savoured ties with her management and the end of a relationship. Her career has also seen her collaborate with Kojaque (acclaimed Irish rapper and producer), rapper Nealo and Hip-Hop band Bricknasty. 

The talented artist has opened for Lana Del Ray at the 3 Arena in 2023. She also been featured on platforms such as Sofar Sounds. Her music has also found rotation and homes on platforms such as 2FM and BBC. In 2026 she released a single titled “Kumba” with Zimbabwean heavy weight singer and producer Nyasha Timbe. After fifteen years since she had left Zimbabwe, she returned and worked on this song which deals with identity, longing and belonging. The song was accompanied by a music video which shows the singer in her native Zimbabwe and showcasing where she comes from. 

shiv’s instrument is also worth noting. Her voice can be breathy, raspy, clear and deliciously bright in its upper register. Listening to her sing, one cannot help but think of other soul singers such as Olivia Dean and India.Arie. shiv sights the likes of Frank Ocean, Erykah Badu and Jorja Smith as some of her inspirations. She is certainly one artist to watch as her star continues to ascend.
