Zimbabwe’s gospel music landscape has entered a bold new chapter following the launch of the Shekinah Gospel Awards in Avondale, Harare. The initiative marks a significant milestone, creating a dedicated platform to recognise and celebrate gospel artists shaping the nation’s spiritual and cultural soundscape.
Spearheaded by producer and musician MacDonald “MacDee” Chidavaenzi, the awards bring to life a long-held vision to elevate the genre and honour its impact. The launch attracted key industry and government figures, including representation from the Ministry of Arts and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, signalling strong institutional backing.
More than a celebration, the Shekinah Gospel Awards position themselves as a catalyst for growth, aimed at inspiring excellence, nurturing talent and amplifying Zimbabwean gospel music on a larger stage.
