Melyssa Dlodlo goes by the mononym Melyssa. She is a singer/songwriter and actress from Zimbabwe whose talent has been drawing attention and collaborations with some of the most popular names in Zimbabwe. She started off as a backing vocalist for various musician including the likes of Cindy Munyavi. Back in 2018 she decided to launch her solo career and dropped her first single titled “Time To Go”.
In 2019 she released her six track EP titled ‘Sensations’ which featured singles such as “Long Time” and “Ndakakanganwa”. Perhaps the stand out single from the EP was “Chengeta” a soul stirring ballade in which the singer asks her lover to be careful with her heart. The song culminated in nomination for ‘Best R&B Song’ at the 2021 Star FM Listeners Choice Awards.
Melyssa has also found success working with fellow musicians such as Takura and Tytan in which the trio worked together on a song titled “The Way I Do”. She has also worked with R&B staple Nyasha David on the single “Ndoda Iwewe” on which she shines side to side with one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated talents. Her most recent collaboration was with Zimbabwean singer Delroy Shewe in which the talented duo worked on a upbeat love song titled “Ndichadiwa”.
The song was released early in 2024. This year also saw the release of a song titled “Ita Zvawada”. Apart from her singing career, Melyssa has also shown herself to be a skillful actress and has started on the YouTube series ‘Tinaye Wayne Family Show’ in which she portrays Rudo (whom the lead character is infatuated with).
With industry recognition, crystal clear talent and versatility, Melyssa is certainly one star to watch. She was recently spotlighted by Earground Media as a talented rising female musician.
