Zimbabwe Women begin their quest for a maiden ICC Women’s T20 World Cup appearance this weekend as they compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026 in Nepal.
The 10-team tournament features emerging forces in women’s cricket, with Zimbabwe placed in Group B alongside the Netherlands, Scotland, Thailand and hosts Nepal. The top three teams from each group advance to the Super Six stage, with four teams ultimately qualifying for the World Cup.
Led by veteran batter Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Zimbabwe field a balanced squad blending experience and youth. Key figures include Modester Mupachikwa, all-rounders Josephine Nkomo and Loreen Tshuma, and pace spearheads Nomvelo Sibanda and Audrey Mazvishaya, alongside rising talents Kelis Ndhlovu and Beloved Biza.
Zimbabwe open their campaign against the Netherlands on Sunday, 18 January, before facing Thailand (20 January), Scotland (22 January) and Nepal (24 January).
With history within reach, consistency and composure will be crucial as Zimbabwe aim to take a major step forward in women’s cricket.
