This visit marks the first time Zimbabwe’s modeling world will be graced by a reigning Miss Universe.
“DID YOU KNOW? As the Miss Universe Zimbabwe Organisation, we are excited to announce that the reigning Miss Universe, Sheynis Palacio from Nicaragua, will be visiting Zimbabwe as part of our efforts to promote the brand Zimbabwe, often subjected to unnecessary negativity. It’s time for Zimbabweans to tell our story our way. Let’s meet at the airport tomorrow—she arrives at 3:30 pm!” Mrs. Chiwenga, the chairperson of Miss Universe Zimbabwe, confirmed this news in a Facebook post, addressing the rumors circulating on social media about the tour.
In a press statement seen by My Afrika Magazine, the event organizers have invited media and modeling enthusiasts to gather at Robert Mugabe Airport tomorrow to welcome Miss Universe, Sheynis Palacio, to Zimbabwe. The pickup point will be at Africa Square in Harare, opposite Herald Publication offices, at 2 pm.
Miss Universe Sheynis Palacio will also attend a ‘corporate networking dinner and meet-and-greet’ event with her fans and other Zimbabwean royalty. This event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20th, at Siyekhaya in Harare. Tickets are priced at $100 USD, and attendees are expected to dress in cocktail attire.
Palacio’s tour of Africa comes just months before Zimbabwe’s own reigning queen, Sakhile Dube, travels to Mexico to compete in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant. In Zimbabwe, fans are hopeful that Palacio will visit Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe, and other key tourist destinations during her stay. Kenya has also announced that Miss Universe Sheynis Palacio will visit Nairobi this month.
