Zimbabwe Cricket has been allocated 10 hectares of land in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone for Tourism in Victoria Falls for the construction of an international cricket stadium and ancillary facilities. This significant development will enhance Zimbabwe’s cricketing infrastructure and contribute to the country’s tourism sector.

“Zimbabwe Cricket was allocated 10 hectares of land for the construction of an international cricket stadium and ancillary facilities in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone for Tourism in Victoria Falls,” Information Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere said. “The project will contribute towards the $5-billion tourism and hospitality industry by 2025, as well as the development and expansion of sports infrastructure in the country.”

The new stadium will play a crucial role in hosting major international events. Zimbabwe is set to co-host the 2026 U19 Cricket World Cup and the 2027 Cricket World Cup alongside South Africa and Namibia. His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa will lay the foundation stone to mark the commencement of construction on 23 May 2024. The stadium, located in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone, is expected to be a landmark project that boosts both the sport and tourism sectors in Victoria Falls, demonstrating Zimbabwe’s commitment to international cricket and economic development.
