Zimbabwe Cricket, in partnership with UNFPA Zimbabwe and other organizations under the Health Resilience Fund, launched the #72Hours Campaign on the 6th of November. This initiative was focused on increasing awareness and timely reporting of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) incidents, emphasizing the critical 72-hour window for victims to access essential, life-saving services.
The #72Hours Campaign, which serves as a lead-up to the 2024 “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence,” operates under the theme “Come Together, Act Now.” This theme highlights the role of community engagement, particularly involving men and boys, in reshaping social norms and behaviors that perpetuate GBV.
UNFPA Zimbabwe issued a statement affirming their commitment: “Today, we launched the #72Hours Campaign! With Zimbabwe Government, Zimbabwe Cricket, Adult Rape Clinic & dedicated support of #HRF & implementing partners to tackle sexual & GBV head-on. This campaign aims to ensure survivors have access to critical services within 72 hours of an incident.”
By rallying the support of community leaders, organizations, and individuals, the campaign aspires to create a proactive environment that supports survivors and prevents future incidents, ensuring swift intervention and essential care for those affected.
