‘The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) would like to advice the public that the voter registration blitz and voter education has been extended by five days.’ (ZEC twitter)
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) extended the final nationwide mobile biometric voter registration exercise by five days, meaning it will end on the 26th of March ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.
Voters registration was originally set to end on 21st of March, however the commission made an announcement that the exercise will now conclude on 26th of March.
ZEC made a number of Lamentations during the registration, among them includes, unscheduled power cuts which the commission said were negatively affecting the ongoing final mobile voter registration blitz at some centres.
About 5 000 centres were created by the ZEC so that citizens who are eligible to vote can visit to register during the mobile biometric voter registration with the second capital city Bulawayo having 71 centres out of the 5000 centres which were created.
The voter registration process precedes the 2023 harmonised elections scheduled for July this year.
