The roar of the mighty Victoria Falls has long provided the soundtrack to the town, but on 10 December it will be joined by a different kind of pulse—the electrifying beats of Zimbabwe’s own Mr Melody, also known as Tony Witness. Based in Victoria Falls, the Afro-star is set to share the stage with Zambia’s chart-topping sensation Yo Maps.
Set against the iconic backdrop of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the concert promises a night where natural beauty meets musical brilliance, creating an unforgettable experience for fans across the continent.
In an interview with My Afrika Magazine, Mr Melody expressed both excitement and pride ahead of the performance.
“I’m thrilled to be performing alongside Zambia’s biggest star, Yo Maps, and one of our own international artists, Qonfuzed,” he said.
Though he has headlined major shows before, Mr Melody describes this event as especially meaningful.
“Yes, I’ve performed on big international stages, but as the Afro-star and icon of Victoria Falls, I’m excited to showcase Zimbabwean talent. Afro-beats don’t only come from Nigeria—we do Afro-beats in Zimbabwe, and we do it our own way.”
Growing up in the shadow of the falls, Mr Melody was surrounded by traditional rhythms, the buzz of tourists, and the constant thunder of crashing water. Those sounds shaped the musical identity he carries today.
“As an artist, you always have inspiration. My role model is Diamond Platnumz,” he said.
“I fuse my music with his flavour, but I travel across Africa—and that gives birth to my sound. I use cultural elements consciously.”
His music blends Swahili, Shona, Ndebele and even touches of Urdu, forming a linguistic tapestry that resonates across borders.
Mr Melody’s travels—from Lagos to Namibia, Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg, and Malawi—have left lasting imprints on his artistry.
“My music touches different parts of Africa. Performing at Victoria Falls—my home—means everything. It has been long since I performed here.”
The upcoming show is more than a performance—it is a homecoming.
“I’m looking forward to giving my fans the best experience,” he said. “From my travels, I’ve grown not only musically, but business-wise.”
Witness also took time to address his supporters directly, encouraging them to embrace all artists performing at the event.
“The message I want attendees to take is: show the same love you show international artists. When we support each other, we grow. We appreciate the love—please keep supporting.”
On 10 December, Victoria Falls will be illuminated not only by stage lights, but by the energy of a community that has nurtured its own talent and is now ready to share it with the world.
With Yo Maps bringing Zambian flair and Mr Melody delivering a fusion of rhythms inspired by the Zambezi’s flow, the concert promises to show the power of African music to rise above borders. As the sun sets behind the misty curtain of the falls, fans can expect a performance that blends the familiar with the fresh—proof that great music speaks one universal language, no matter the origin of the beat.
