Africa has been described as the youngest continent and the richest when it comes to land and farming.
Despite the continent accumulating large hectares of land, only a small number of the young population owns farms, purposed for commercial agriculture. Majority of those who are registered as farmers or owners of farms are male.
Tapiwa Rubaya (TR) caught up with one of the few female farm owners in Zimbabwe, Tapuwanashe Allin (TA), to tell us more about her agriculture project and foundation (Tapuwanashe Allin Foundation).
Tapuwanashe Allin is also an accomplished model and has won several titles and awards.
THE INTERVIEW
TR: Tapuwanashe Allin thank you for your time, can you kindly introduce yourself to our readers?
TA: I am an entrepreneur, farmer and a model.
TR: Why did you choose to specialise in empowering young people through your career path, passion and fortunes?
TA: Young people can make invaluable contributions to their families, economic growth, peace building and sustainable development.
Young people have the ideas, the creativity and great energy to shape a better world.
Young people are full of hope and have a great potential to generate a positive social change in the world.
TR: Can you share with us in detail, some of the Charity work that you will be conducting this year?
TA: 2021 we are working on a project “BETTERING THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IN MARGINALIZED AREAS”
This initiative will support the government in improving the quality of education in the marginalized areas, a major issue in Zimbabwe.
TR: What will your foundation be donating or doing in this project?
TA: I will be donating exercise books, school shoes donations and advocating for girls’ menstrual hygiene; through all of these activities, TAPUWANASHE ALLIN FOUNDATION TRUST wants to make sure every child has access to quality education in Zimbabwe.
Some parents can not afford a pair of school shoes for their children, though shoes give confidence to young learners knowing that they can walk to school in comfort, as opposed to barefoot.
TR: What is your main target of this project?
TA: The aim for this project is to donate 300 pairs of school shoes and 5000 exercise books this year.
We believe that this can support learning and increase students’ success.
TR: So, who or what inspires your day-to-day life and why?
TA: Oprah Winfrey triumphed over everything that is enough to keep a person down, poverty, violence, assault, and many other evils, she’s a true inspiration.
TR: You are a young entrepreneur, farmer, and model. How do you balance your day-to-day life?
TA: On top of my list is the Zzzzzzzz, getting enough sleep is super important for me! It’s the time when my body can process through the stress of the day. Number two I ask for help.
As a recovering “I can do it all by myself” kinda woman, it’s taken me a long time to learn how to ask for help from others. Truth is, when your plate is full, there is no way that you can do it all by yourself!
I Let Go Of The Small Stuff, however I’m always clear on what my core values and purpose are, then it becomes easier for me to choose my battles based on what’s truly important, what’s going to move me forward in a good way and serve the greater good.
TR: This year you have been awarded in different ceremonies; can you state for us some of the awards that you won’t this year?
TA: Outstanding Youth In Social Responsibility
TR: Tapuwanashe thank you very much for your time and keep serving your community.
