YET Galore fashion brand has firmly established itself as one of the standout participants in Zimbabwe Fashion Week (ZFW), Zimbabwe’s premier fashion event.
As the brand prepares to showcase its latest collection at the upcoming Zimbabwe Fashion Week, set to take place in Victoria Falls from October 16-20, 2024, founder Tashinga Chingombe reflects on the benefits and experiences gained from last year’s event.
Speaking to My Afrika Magazine, Chingombe shared how ZFW has been instrumental in opening doors for his brand, allowing him to network with key players in the fashion industry.
“It was amazing. I got to meet and mingle with designers who’ve walked the path I look to take on,” Chingombe said.
This year, Chingombe looks forward to using ZFW as a platform to gather insights from spectators and fashion enthusiasts on his collection. “The response, reaction, and insights I get from the onlookers are a great boost to know where I am and where I’m going as a brand,” he added.
YET Galore is known for its innovative use of denim fabric, which many designers shy away from due to its complexity. However, for Chingombe, denim is a fabric he loves working with.
“Denim is an exciting fabric to work with. It’s the first material I upcycled when I started designing, so it’s a sense of identity too,” he said.
When asked what inspired his journey into fashion, Chingombe said it was the freedom to create something unique and “wild.” He added, “I ventured into fashion design for the joy of creating something from my own thoughts and ideas.”
Fans can expect more daring and sustainable pieces from YET Galore at this year’s Zimbabwe Fashion Week. The brand, defined by the phrase “By now or Then (Futuristic things) GALORE (A whole lot),” focuses on creating sustainable fashion, contributing to a more eco-conscious industry.
