After being crowned Miss Teen of the Universe Zimbabwe 2024, Victoria’s journey has been marked by resilience, advocacy, and a deep passion for her culture and community. As a trailblazer, she’s dedicated to amplifying causes close to her heart, including education and menstrual health, while challenging stereotypes about African identity. Join us as we dive into her inspiring journey, experiences, and aspirations.

MAM: Can you tell us a bit about your journey leading up to being crowned Miss Teen of the Universe Zimbabwe 2024? What inspired you to enter the world of pageantry?

VN: My journey began in 2022 at my former school’s pageant, where I was crowned Miss Masiyephambili College. That same year, I competed in Miss Teen Universe Zimbabwe, though I didn’t place, but I wasn’t discouraged. I joined an agency that taught me about pageantry, grooming, and resilience. Later, I entered Miss Teen Superglobe Zimbabwe, won the title, and went on to represent Zimbabwe in Dubai, where I was awarded second runner-up and the Africa title.

This year, I competed in Miss Teen of the Universe Zimbabwe, where I was crowned queen, and later represented Zimbabwe in India, winning Miss Teen of the Universe Africa. My aunt, Thandi Muringa, a former pageant model, is my inspiration. She exudes elegance, confidence, and charisma, and I aspire to be like her.

MAM: What was the most memorable part of your experience representing Zimbabwe at the Miss Teen of the Universe competition in India?

VN: Meeting Ambassador Honorable Stella Nkomo and Honorable T. Mavetere was incredibly memorable. They’ve supported me throughout my journey, so meeting them in person felt special and uplifting.

MAM: How did it feel to be crowned Miss Teen of the Universe Africa, and what does this title mean to you?

VN: I was thrilled; my hard work truly paid off. This title means being an ambassador for Africa, showcasing our diverse cultures, traditions, natural beauty, and wildlife to the world.

MAM: What challenges did you face during the competition, and how did you overcome them?

VN: Thankfully, I had an incredible team behind me who made everything seamless, even from afar in India. Their support allowed me to focus entirely on my performance.

MAM: Many pageants are platforms for advocacy. What causes are closest to your heart, and how do you plan to use your title to make an impact?

VN: I founded a nonprofit, the I Am Pink Foundation, focused on reducing period poverty in Zimbabwe. With my title, I plan to amplify this cause, collaborate with other organizations, and provide sanitary products and education on menstruation hygiene to empower girls.

MAM: What message do you hope to share with other young women and teens who look up to you as a role model?

VN: Dear young queens, you are tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and change-makers. Remember, your voice matters, your actions count, and your presence makes a difference. Don’t let anyone discourage you—your dreams and potential are limitless.

MAM: Can you tell us more about any charitable or community-based projects you’re involved in, both in Zimbabwe and beyond?

VN: Aside from my volunteer work, I’m planning significant projects to support my community. Keep an eye out for updates, as I’m excited to make a difference.

MAM: What were some of the cultural highlights or differences you experienced while participating in the Miss Teen of the Universe competition in India?

VN: India’s rich culinary diversity was fascinating! Their unique and spicy dishes were both memorable and delicious.

MAM: How did you prepare for the competition, both mentally and physically, and what advice would you give to future contestants representing Zimbabwe or Africa?

VN: To prepare, I focused on physical health through a balanced diet, hydration, and grooming. Mentally, I prioritized self-awareness and stress management, while emotionally, prayer kept me grounded. To future contestants: Remember, you are resilient, and your voice matters. Believe in yourself and make Zimbabwe proud.

MAM: Pageantry often celebrates creativity and fashion. Can you tell us about the outfits or styles you felt most confident in during the competition?

VN: I felt confident in every outfit thanks to Sharon Chiweda, Pauline Marere, and my designer Lumiere Fashion, who created stylish, comfortable outfits for me.

MAM: How do you incorporate your own sense of style and identity into your pageant persona?

VN: Authenticity is key. I embrace my cultural heritage, values, and individuality, and showcase my passions and personality.

MAM: What are your plans moving forward as Miss Teen of the Universe Africa, and how do you envision your role evolving in the future?

VN: My focus is on empowering young girls through education, economic empowerment, and menstrual health initiatives. I’m committed to advocating for access to affordable sanitary products, showcasing Africa’s beauty and economic potential, and promoting the Sustainable Development Goals. I envision leading a movement to provide menstrual hygiene management solutions to 1 million African girls by 2025.

MAM: What personal or professional goals do you have outside of pageantry, and how do you balance them with your responsibilities as a titleholder?

VN: Next year, I plan to pursue a degree in Tourism and Hospitality. I’ll balance my education with my titleholder responsibilities by prioritizing, setting goals, and using schedules effectively.

MAM: Looking back, what lessons have you learned from your pageant experience that you’d like to share with other aspiring young women?

VN: I’ve learned the importance of authenticity, resilience, and self-care. Confidence comes from within, and true beauty lies in purpose and impact. To young women: Own your story, amplify your voice, and remember, your worth goes beyond physical beauty.

MAM: What advice would you give to the next Miss Teen of the Universe Zimbabwe about navigating the international stage?

VN: Own your Zimbabwean pride, embrace your uniqueness, and shine authentically. Stay grounded in your values and purpose, build meaningful connections, and remember you’re inspiring a generation of young Africans. Your resilience, story, and voice will have a lasting impact.
