Cleo Arie (Cleopatra Mhete) is a rising Zimbabwean singer who brings a unique style and flare to her music. Blending the gospel with her blend of Afrobeats, R&B and contemporary gospel she stands out in an fast growing industry while charting her own path to success. Known for her velvety vocals and her signature pointed sunglasses, Cleo Arie is in high demand as a performer.
The talented artist released her EP ‘Prayers & Praise’ back in 2024 which included songs such as “Most High”, a song asking for the pouring down of blessings from God. The song enjoyed radio rotation and was accompanied by a spirited music video. “Most High” also made it onto the year end Top 50 Countdown on Star FM Radio (Zimbabwe’s most popular urban radio station). She is also known for her single “Jah Bless” another song asking for the help of a divine hand on one’s work and efforts on earth.
Arie’s debut album ‘Purpose’ was released just last week and is already gaining traction and praise around the world. The album consists of nine singles which range in style from Afrobeats inspired tunes to slower contemplative jams. The record includes the single “Shine Your Light” with gospel music heavyweight Minister Michael Mahendere. Hip-Hop/R&B staple Shona Prince (aka Takura) is also featured on the powerful yet haunting song “Hallelujah.” Perhaps the most stand out single from ‘Purpose’ is “Anondida” which speaks of the awe upon realising the love of God upon the singer’s life. The single was also accompanied by a music video which is currently her most viewed video on her YouTube channel.
“I’m not trying to impress listeners with chart-topping songs or momentary excitement,” she said on a statement about the record. “I want these songs to speak to the heart, to challenge, convict and ultimately lead people back to the true source of life, Jesus.”
Arie has also been called to perform on many stages including the 2026 A Night of Thanksgiving (ANOT) where she shared the stage with Janet Manyowa, ‘God The Lifter of Man’ hosted by gospel singing couple Ministers Ellard and Sharon Cherayi and on American gospel star Chandler Moore on his Zimbabwean stop for his ‘Omemma’ Tour. She is also set to perform during Maverick City’s Naomi Raine and Todd Galberth’s ‘Everywhere’ Tour. She has also been featured on singles by singers such as gospel legend Pastor G and Char.
In 2025 she was nominated as ‘Rising Star in Gospel Music’ at the Inspired Women Africa Awards (IWAAC). The young musician has already made a name for herself as a worshiper and singer of note. With a career only in its genesis, the future of Cleo Arie shows a great deal of promise and excitement. An official launch event for the album has been slated for the 25th of April at The Venue in Harare.
