The legendary reggae and dancehall superstar Sean Paul is set to make a long-awaited return to Kenya after 20 years, headlining a concert on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Waterfront 2 Gardens, Nairobi Jockey Club.

The Grammy-winning artist, known for his energetic performances and chart-topping hits like “Get Busy,” “Temperature,” “Give Me the Light,” and “No Lie,” has generated buzz across East Africa, with fans from as far as Ethiopia and Tanzania expressing their plans to attend the highly anticipated event.

Sean Paul will share the stage with prominent local artists, including Redsan, Motif Di Don (Arbantone set), DJ Grauchi, G-Money, Kym Nickdee, DJ Moh Spice, Mish, CNG, and ZJ Heno. The lineup promises an electrifying evening for reggae and dancehall enthusiasts.

Sean Paul’s return has sparked mixed emotions among fans, as some recall the dramatic turn of events during his 2004 visit to Kenya. At the time, reports claimed the artist’s mobile phone had been stolen, leading to a wave of public curiosity and speculation. The story became a quirky part of his tour narrative, with Sean Paul jokingly mentioning it in interviews over the years.

However, 15 years later, the “Temperature” hitmaker clarified the incident, admitting the phone had not been stolen but misplaced.

I misplaced it when I was in a hotel and I was asking everybody, ‘Where is it, where is it?’ It was not theft; I just misplaced it. I thought about offering a reward for the phone to be returned, but nothing happened. But big up to Kenya still—much love,” Sean Paul shared in an interview with Nairobi News.

Sean Paul’s return has ignited excitement, with fans eager for the Jamaican artist to recreate the magic that made him a global sensation. His dynamic stage presence and infectious beats promise an unforgettable evening.

The Nairobi performance adds to a growing list of international artists who have experienced unexpected challenges in Kenya. Among them are American rapper Desiigner, who famously lost his sneakers during a live concert, Davido, who misplaced his phone, Nollywood star Patience Ozokwor (Mama G), and Tarrus Riley, all of whom encountered similar mishaps during their visits.

As Sean Paul takes the stage, this time under vastly different circumstances, fans can expect the temperature in Nairobi to soar, with a night filled with nostalgia, rhythm, and pure energy.
