One of Australia’s most sought-after musical theatre stars, Ruva has dazzled audiences in productions such as The Lion King, Moulin Rouge, and most recently, as Tina Turner in the national tour of Tina – The Musical.
She has also delivered powerful performances at major events including the National Rugby League Grand Final and the State of Origin rugby league series. This time, her commanding voice will resonate at the Four’N Twenty Legends Rugby Game.
In a recent social media video, Ruva shared her excitement about the upcoming performance:
“I am so excited to be singing the national anthem for The Legends Game as it’s a cause that is very close to my heart. Prostate cancer affects so many Australian men, and there is such a need for research and support through events like The Legends Game. Please support this worthy cause.”
Ruva’s career spans both Australia and international stages, where she has worked extensively as a vocalist and actor. Her credits include The Lion King (Shenzi), Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Madiba (Winnie Mandela), We Will Rock You, and Ragtime. She has also made guest appearances on the hit TV soap Neighbours and released original music, including her 2018 EP Humble Brag, blending pop, R&B, and Afrobeat influences. Her single S.W.E.A.T was even featured during the 2021 Australian Open on Channel 9.
Named Trailblazer of the Year at the recent Amari Gala in Australia, Ruva continues to break barriers in entertainment. She began her professional musical theatre journey in 2013 as Shenzi in The Lion King, after early years performing on the Melbourne jazz bar circuit at just 16. A proud alumna of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS) and Melbourne University’s Victorian College of the Arts, Ruva has since solidified her place as one of Australia’s elite musical theatre performers.
Beyond theatre, Ruva is a versatile live performer sought after for corporate events, cabaret shows, and intimate concerts. With her Zimbabwean heritage shaping her artistry, she continues to bring fresh perspectives to Australian entertainment, inspiring audiences and paving the way for performers of diverse backgrounds.
