In a surprise visit to Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone, President Boko recently witnessed first-hand, the dire conditions facing patients and healthcare workers.

President Boko confirmed this on his social media post on Facebook.

“I wanted to see the reality as it truly is unfiltered, unprepared, and honest,” he said.

What he found was disturbingly described as severe shortages of critical resources, a strained healthcare system, and dedicated workers struggling to cope.

“These conditions inevitably affect performance and undermine public confidence in a facility that should be a place of healing, dignity, and hope,” President Boko stated.

The President therefore initiated immediate action to address the crisis, including acquiring emergency equipment and life-support systems. “This year, and in the shortest time possible, Marina Princess Hospital will be revitalised,” he vowed.

“No Motswana should receive care in such circumstances. No doctor or nurse should be forced to save lives without the basic tools required to do so,” President Boko emphasised.

The President’s unannounced visit was a wake-up call, highlighting the need for urgent reform.

“Our citizens deserve better. Our healthcare workers deserve support. And as a nation, we must never accept neglect as normal,” he said.
