Tawanda Muyeye produced a superb unbeaten century to steer Kent to a hard-fought draw against Durham in their Rothesay County Championship clash. The Zimbabwean batter anchored a resilient fightback, denying the hosts a deserved victory.
Durham had controlled much of the contest, with Ben Raine claiming a milestone 300 first-class wickets for the club. Kent were initially restricted, but showed determination in the second innings, setting a challenging target.
Muyeye’s defining moment came in a crucial 124-run partnership with Daniel Bell-Drummond, reaching his century in just 116 balls with a composed and stylish display. He was later supported by Chris Benjamin as Kent held firm under pressure.
The draw leaves Durham with 13 points and Kent with 11, with Muyeye’s standout performance earning widespread praise in a closely contested encounter.
