On the International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers, Future Nyoni, Mister Africa International Southern Africa, has joined the global call to end the recruitment of children in armed conflicts, urging urgent action to protect and support affected children.
“The use of child soldiers is a heinous crime that must be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” Nyoni stated. “Children are the future of our continent, and it is our responsibility to protect and nurture them, not to exploit and harm them.” His advocacy follows a visit to Sierra Leone, where he witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of war on children.
Nyoni is championing education, healthcare, and psychological support for children affected by conflict, particularly in North Kivu, DRC, where ongoing violence has left millions out of school.
“Education is key to unlocking Africa’s potential. By investing in education, we can help children overcome war trauma and build a better future,” he emphasized.
His message aligns with global efforts led by the African Union, United Nations, and international organizations to end child soldier recruitment and promote peace, security, and development across Africa.
