The African queens have been throwing their ‘beautiful feet’ at the ongoing Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok, Thailand after Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Cote D’ivoire made it into the top 30 segment, with Cote D’ivoire excelling all the way to the last 5 of the competition.

Zimbabwe has captured global attention thanks to an extraordinary fashion moment that continues to trend across social media. In collaboration with Miss Universe Zimbabwe Lyshanda Moyos, internationally acclaimed and multi-award-winning fashion designer Jaspizy Welcome, founder of Ivhu Tribe, stole the spotlight with a breathtaking national costume that left pageant fans and fashion critics in awe.

Titled “Born of the Baobab, Forged in Flame,” the costume has gone viral online, with many praising its creativity, symbolism, and exceptional craftsmanship. The design pays tribute to Zimbabwe’s rich cultural identity and the enduring strength of its people.

Inspired by the iconic baobab tree, a symbol of resilience, wisdom, and spiritual endurance, the creation reflects Zimbabwe’s deep cultural roots. The baobab-fibre tail, naturally dyed in fiery tones, represents the country’s profound connection to nature and ancestral heritage. The silhouette mirrors the majestic form of the baobab, evoking generosity, strength, and an embracing spirit.

The colours woven into the design tell Zimbabwe’s story: red represents the bloodline of its people, black symbolises the majority and richness of the land, and orange signifies transformation, the flame that refines and strengthens. More than a garment, this costume is a living story, a visual celebration of Zimbabwe’s history, identity, and cultural pride.

Ivhu Tribe’s powerful creation has firmly positioned Zimbabwe on the global fashion map, showcasing the nation’s artistic depth and cultural brilliance. As the pageant progresses, Zimbabweans at home and abroad are rallying behind their queen, hoping she brings home the Miss Universe crown.
