Growing up in the town of Marondera in the early 2000s, a young boy Talent Tinotenda Tumba who was always clad in denim wear by his mother and grew attached to denim knew that his affection and attachment to denim wear was a just reflection of the deep love for fashion and a dream to take denim to greater heights which was in his heart.

Years later that love for denim continued growing and sprouted into something tangible. Talent attended his primary and secondary education at Waddilove where he also realized that aside from fashion he also had love for art and would draw comic books .His talent in sketching led him to drawing his clothes designs , a skill some fashion designers can never have.

Talent juggled between designing and university for three years but later on decided to do fashion full time after failing to finish his tertiary studies due to personal reasons. With a lot of time on his hands to come up with designs Tripple Tee learnt more about designing denim wear from scratch and also recycling old jeans to make better and improved trendy designs rather that throw them away which is one way that makes him stand out from other designers because he tries by all means to come up with designs that are eco friendly.

Deriving inspiration from American rapper and fashion icon Kanye West who is known for his statement fashion pieces, Tripple stated that Kanye’s music helps him to meditate and his sense of fashion makes him think deep about the true essence of fashion and helps him come up with amazing designs that show his appreciation for fashion. Talent designs sweaters, jorts, overalls, trousers , two piece outfits just to mention a few. This young designer has mastered the art of customizing a design for each of his clients as they differ in body shapes, sense of style , skin tones and the kind of designs they like.

Tripple Tee uses social media to his advantage in marketing and advertising his business to get clients. He creates mini vlogs of himself sketching a design and bringing it to life and also posts pictures of the clients he dresses, various designs he creates and videos of runway shows that he does. This has been very effective for him as people reach out to him to enquire more about his designs and work with him. Talent stated that another significant factor that sets him afar from other designer is that he also allows clients to bring their designs to him and he polishes them up and creates something tangible out of it. He also mentioned that just because his focus is on denim it does not mean that is the only fabric he works with but it is his trademark and focusing on it makes him a cut above the rest because he has mastered using denim and knows how to manipulate the fabric to come out with nothing but the best of denim designs.

He has designed for artists like Tocky Vibes, Chido Machanzi, Kayflow, Kim Makumbe, producers like Gangster Made It, comedians like Chief Ben and Dj Pretty Gangsta and he hopes to work with more artists in the future. He has also worked with the Resurrection modelling agency for a runway show.

Tripple Tee said there is need for serious improvement in the Zimbabwean fashion industry because some designers are designing barbaric things in the name of fashion and it is diluting the fashion culture.
Asked about his plans for he future Talent said” In the next five years I see myself as one of the biggest denim designer in Africa and beyond. I am talking about seeing Tripple Tee in LV , Balenciaga and Levi fashion runways”. He offered solid advice to future fashion designers saying “ Stay true to your vision , focus on sustainability and stay curious to stay ahead in the fashion industry.
