LG: On December 14, 2024, you celebrated your creativity through a book and an album launch. How does that milestone make you feel?
KC: I am short of words and very grateful to God for making it possible. It’s a dream come true. I’m happy my family and friends came and supported me.

LG: The journey to self-discovery or awareness is continuous. When did yours begin, and what are your achievements so far?
KC: Being a creative is a journey that started for me in 2014. I celebrate every step of success because, for me, there is no such thing as a small win. Highlights include my first appearance on The Night Cap show on 3K TV in 2022, being live on Classic 263 Radio last year, and having my work featured in newspapers. These are significant achievements, and I am looking forward to more opportunities.

LG: Having attended the double launch, I was awed by how you delivered the music on your album. Please take us through the stages of being a writer and performer. When did you start?
KC: Writing and performing fall under the same creative umbrella. Inspiration comes from dreams, life experiences, and so much more. I believe I was born to be an artist, and my mission is to reach out and speak through my music and writing. The process starts with thoughts, which I jot down in my diary.

LG: What and who is your greatest inspiration?
KC: My greatest inspirations are the late Zahara and Sam Mtukudzi. The opportunity to praise God with my guitar in front of His people inspires me every day.

LG: How do you define fulfillment in your life and work?
KC: Fulfillment, for me, is walking in my calling and enjoying its benefits. Hearing saints sing my songs in their congregations gives me the energy to seek God for more. One day, I hope the entire world will sing a song or read a book by Kunkuse.

LG: Solo Asina Mutsai is a heartbreak song you wrote. Please tell us more—have you fully healed from the lowest moment in your life?
KC: Writing Solo was the time I dealt with my pain and found healing. As artists, we often bleed onto the paper, and that song was my outlet.

LG: Your book The Right Mantle for Your Hustle and Bustle is filled with your life experiences and inspiration. Why did you feel the need to write it, and what do you hope to achieve?
KC: The book is a story of inspiration, hope, and how God intervened in my life during challenging times. It highlights His guidance and providence, which led me to joy and peace.

LG: It seems Gogo Jeska was the first woman you ever loved. What moments with her do you treasure the most?
KC: Jessy was my friend and bodyguard. She couldn’t finish her meals and would always call me over for a piece of meat—those were precious moments. There’s an entire chapter in my book dedicated to her.

LG: As a Christian, what advice would you give someone who wants to begin writing but fears failure?
KC: With God, all things are possible. Start writing now and be a vessel for His work. Resources will come when you least expect them.

LG: As a full-time musician, how has the journey been, and what challenges have you faced?
KC: Being a creative requires funding, and there are no shortcuts to success. Balancing personal expenditure and creative projects is challenging, especially as a family man. Sometimes, you must wait longer than expected to see the fruits of your labor.

LG: Social media marketing is the new way of reaching audiences. How are you maximizing this?
KC: Social media marketing is crucial in this digital age. I’m working hard to grow my business, ministry, and craft through platforms like Facebook and YouTube.

LG: Talk about family and their support for your work.
KC: Jessy was my number-one supporter, and I’m glad others are following suit. My wife is trying her best to understand and support my work, which I truly appreciate.

LG: What last word do you want your audience, both old and new, to know about you and your work?
KC: We’ll continue giving you music to soothe your souls and refresh your hearts. More books are coming, too.

LG: Any additional information you’d like to share with us?
KC: Jesus is Lord. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Now is the time for true worshippers to worship Him in spirit and truth.
