Reigning Mister Africa International Zimbabwe and award-winning runway model, Future Nyoni, made a memorable appearance at the inaugural Victoria Falls Fashion Festival on Sunday, November 17. The event served as both a celebration of his achievements and a farewell to the Zimbabwean runway before he heads to Sierra Leone to represent the nation at the Mister Africa International pageant.
Nyoni, who has walked international and regional runways in Mpumalanga (South Africa), Malawi, and Tanzania, was last year honored as the Outstanding Runway Model at the Bulawayo Models Awards. Earlier this year, he graced the Edgar’s Extravaganza in Bulawayo. At the Victoria Falls Fashion Festival, he dazzled the audience while showcasing a piece from YET GALORE’s latest collection.
Speaking to My Afrika Magazine after the show, Nyoni expressed his excitement about participating in the festival, calling it a significant moment in his modeling journey.
“This was my second major runway show this year and my last before traveling to Sierra Leone,” said Nyoni. “It was an opportunity to showcase my craft in front of my family and the local community, giving them a glimpse of what I will be doing at Mister Africa International. I also wanted to inspire aspiring models in my hometown.”
Confident about his chances of winning the international title, Nyoni emphasized that the festival was also a platform for him to connect with the public and seek their support as he prepares to take on Africa.
“Even though I’m confident in winning the Mister Africa International title, taking part in the Victoria Falls Fashion Festival was a way of gaining public approval and showcasing my readiness to be crowned Africa’s King,” he said.
Nyoni also urged established models to give back to their communities by participating in local fashion events.
“I encourage my brothers and sisters who’ve made it in the modeling industry to take part in local fashion shows. It’s a vital way of giving back to our communities and inspiring the next generation of top models,” he said.
When asked about the YET GALORE outfit he wore during the show, Nyoni praised the brand’s uniqueness and ability to reveal an individual’s true identity.
“YET GALORE is a unique brand that takes you out of your shell and exposes your true self. I felt comfortable and authentic as I walked the runway wearing their design,” he explained. “This won’t be the last time you see me wearing or representing YET GALORE. They’re one of my sponsors, and I’ll be showcasing their creations to the world.”
The Victoria Falls Fashion Festival was attended by local residents, visitors from nearby areas such as Hwange, and a mix of local and international tourists from Europe and Asia. The event celebrated Zimbabwean fashion and creativity, providing a platform for models like Nyoni to shine.
