Kenya has clinched the third spot in Africa as a sought-after destination for immigrants in pursuit of high-paying employment opportunities, according to the 2024 Henley Opportunity Index. With a score of 25 out of 100, Kenya demonstrates significant promise for immigrants to secure well-compensated positions, particularly within the private and NGO sectors.
Leading the pack are South Africa and Mauritius, securing the first and second positions with scores of 41 and 26, respectively, outpacing Kenya in terms of earning potential for immigrants.
The Henley Opportunity Index 2024 assesses six crucial metrics to gauge the career prospects and prosperity available to investors in 11 prominent African nations. These metrics encompass earning potential, career progression, access to top-tier job opportunities, quality education offerings, economic mobility, and overall livability.
Although Kenya shines in areas such as economic mobility and quality of life, it falls behind in terms of career growth opportunities and access to premier employment prospects. Nevertheless, Kenya stands out as the sole East African Community member to feature on the list, highlighting its allure to immigrants in search of profitable prospects.
Despite securing a joint sixth position in the overall rankings, Kenya presents an attractive landscape for investors, albeit trailing behind countries such as South Africa, Mauritius, Egypt, Morocco, and Ghana.
