Zimbabwe — A heartwarming invitation has been extended to the public by Friends of Karanda Mission Hospital (FOKMH), a volunteer-driven organization raising funds for one of Zimbabwe’s most trusted rural hospitals.
The group will host a Fundraising Braai on August 15 at Alex Sports Club in Harare. But this isn’t just another barbecue, it’s a powerful call to action to help transform lives and strengthen medical care for the most vulnerable.
The event is aimed at raising $78,400 to purchase essential equipment and resources for Karanda Mission Hospital in Mt. Darwin. These include:
- A Land Cruiser for outreach programs that bring healthcare to rural and remote communities
- An ECG machine to improve diagnostics and cardiac care
- Solar water geysers to enhance patient hygiene and hospital efficiency
“Your ticket doesn’t just buy you a meal,” read the invite from FOKMH. “It brings hope, health, and healing to thousands who rely on Karanda for life-saving care.”
Guests can expect a lively afternoon with delicious food, great music, and the opportunity to support a cause that reaches far beyond Harare. For those who cannot attend, donations are welcomed through the FOKMH website.
Friends of Karanda Mission Hospital was founded by individuals deeply affected by the challenges of accessing cancer treatment, FOKMH works to ease the burden for underprivileged patients. The organization supports Karanda Mission Hospital’s mission to offer care regardless of financial standing. Their “Adopt a Patient” campaign invites global citizens to be part of the solution, making life-saving treatment a reality for those who might otherwise go without.
Karanda’s reach extends beyond Zimbabwe, having served patients from across southern and central Africa including Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa, Burundi, and Rwanda.
“Love is not love… until you give it away,” the organizers say, and on August 15, Zimbabweans have a chance to do just that.
