Nigeria Men’s Fashion Week has emerged as one of the continent’s fastest-growing fashion events, particularly highlighting men’s fashion. This year’s edition, hosted earlier this month, attracted hundreds of spectators, models, and fashion designers who gathered to witness the unveiling of new collections from some of Africa’s most exclusive designers.

Among the standout participants was Oluwatobi Emmanuel Adesanya, the reigning Mister Nigeria 2024. His presence on the runway added prestige to the event, and he expressed immense pride in representing his country’s vibrant fashion industry.

“Walking in Nigeria’s biggest male fashion show was a moment of immense pride and fulfillment for me,” Adesanya shared with My Afrika Magazine. “Being able to showcase the hard work and creativity of Nigerian designers on such a prominent platform felt empowering. It was a chance to represent not only myself and my title as Mister Nigeria 2024 but also the incredible talent that our country offers in the fashion industry.”

During the event, Adesanya showcased designs from a diverse array of esteemed and emerging designers across West Africa, including:

  • Nigeria: Daffe Umute, Essien, Kttt Wardrobe, Skentele By Etti, Imza, Oruku, Simeni, KK Wears, and BlackAdudu.
  • Ghana: Quophi Akotuah, Niposkin, and Groomsmen.
  • Benin Republic: Teed.

He described the showcased designs as unique pieces of art that told stories of Africa’s rich cultural heritage. “Each piece was meticulously crafted to reflect not just the latest trends but also the deep-rooted cultural heritage of Africa,” Adesanya noted. “The designs were bold and expressive, resonating deeply with my personal style. It was an honor to bring these creations to life on the runway.”

When asked about what stands out to him during a modeling performance, Adesanya emphasized the energy and connection shared between the audience, the designs, and himself. “It’s about embodying the story that the designer wants to tell and bringing that vision to life,” he explained. “Confidence, poise, and passion are key for me. Whether it’s a runway show or a pageant, I always aim to leave a lasting impression.”

Looking ahead, Adesanya has his sights set on the global stage. “In the future, I hope to headline international fashion shows like Paris Fashion Week or New York Fashion Week,” he revealed. “These platforms offer global exposure, and representing Nigerian fashion on such stages would be a significant milestone in my career. It would also be an incredible opportunity to showcase the richness of African fashion to a wider audience.”

Oluwatobi Emmanuel Adesanya’s participation in Nigeria Men’s Fashion Week not only underscores his personal achievements but also highlights the growing influence and innovation of African fashion on the global scene.
