Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has made history as he becomes the first, Iranian Head of State after 11 years to visit Africa.
On Tuesday he started his tour in Nairobi, Kenya and meet his counterpart President William Ruto. His three-day trip will include Zimbabwe and Uganda.
The Iranian leader is expected to forge new alliance and ease its international isolation.
In a press statement which was released by Zimbabwe’s ministry of foreign affairs and international trade. The ministry confirmed that H.E Dr Raisi is expected to arrive in Harare on the 13th of July.
The ministry further informed that H.E Dr Raisi will meet his counterpart, President Mnangagwa and several MoU’s are expected to be signed between the two nations.
The relationship between the two nations diplomatic stated in 1983.
It is instructive that the state visit comes against the backdrop of the eighth and ninth sessions of the Zimbabwe -Iran joint permanent commission on co-operation JPCCC which was held in Harare 2022 and Tehran in 2023.
Both countries are under the United Nations sanctions.
