BULAWAYO – The Intwasa Arts Festival is set to roar back to the City of Kings and Queens this September, promising four days of vibrant cultural expression and community engagement. Festival organizers last week confirmed the official dates, 24 to 27 September.
This year’s lineup includes film screenings, dance performances, music concerts, theatre productions, literature sessions, spoken word, and comedy showcases.
Over the years, Intwasa has become more than just an entertainment platform, serving as a hub for education, cultural dialogue, and the promotion of African creativity.
Last year marked a milestone for the festival, which celebrated its 20th anniversary. For the first time, the festival was postponed to November. The 2024 edition also introduced mobile community stages in popular suburbs such as Nkulumane, Cowdray Park, and Mzilikazi, bringing performances directly to residents.
Bulawayo locals are hopeful these community activations will continue during this year’s 21st edition. Audiences are especially looking forward to festival favorites, including Women, Wine & Words, The Phathisa Nyathi Lecture, and the soulful Acoustic Night.
With its blend of tradition and innovation, Intwasa Arts Festival continues to cement its place as one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated cultural events.
