Harare – International award-winning poet and 2017 NAMA Outstanding Poet nominee, Shingirai Manyengavana, is set to host the highly anticipated Makumi Matatu Spoken Word Poetry Session on November 2, 2024, at the Jasen Mphepo Little Theatre in Harare. The event promises to be an evening filled with poetic performances that showcase the transformative power of the spoken word.

Manyengavana will captivate the audience with his portrayal of 69, a poet from Sakubva navigating the complexities of life. His story delves into how life’s challenges can leave lasting scars—both seen and unseen. Through this character, the performance explores themes of betrayal, survival, and the beauty that can emerge from life’s hardships.

The event will also feature notable poets such as Batsi Chigama, Mwana waGidza, Mambo Guramatunhu, and I Eat Lemons, each bringing their unique voice and perspective to the stage. The session aims to create a safe space for self-expression, allowing attendees to confront and share their unspoken emotions, thoughts, and experiences.
