President William Ruto recently announced to Kenyan citizens that the parent company of Facebook has made a deal to monetize the content in Kenya.
President Ruto delivered this message during Jamhuri Day which is Kenya’s Independent Day of Kenya on the 12th of December.
“I have good news for our creatives and those who imagine and produce content through Facebook and Instagram.
“Just yesterday Meta committed to helping creators in Kenya earn money for crafting original content following a pilot program with eligible creators in the country, Meta will be expanding monetization opportunities and allowing more creators to earn a living doing what they love,” said President Ruto.
Kenya will be joining two African countries which are the only African countries in the continent with a Facebook creator program.
However, before you start earning through Facebook there are certain requirements:
•You must be of the age of 18 or more years
•You must have 5000 followers on your private Facebook profile or 10,000 followers on a Facebook page.
•Your video content on your Facebook profile has a minimum of 60,000 minutes viewed in the last 60 days from organic followers or 600,000 viewed minutes within the same time for your Facebook page.
•You must be in your country that is eligible for instream advertisements that play on your videos, during, before, or after play.
