Fashion Without Borders Africa (FWBA), one of the continent’s fastest-growing fashion platforms, is celebrating 11 years of championing creativity, empowering talent, and breaking boundaries within the African fashion industry.

Marking this milestone, the organizers have announced the upcoming 11th edition of the Johannesburg showcase—an event that highlights more than a decade of dedication to uplifting underprivileged designers and models from across Africa.

Founded by Efigy Productions, FWBA has grown from its roots in South Africa to establish a presence in Botswana and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with plans to expand further across the continent. The initiative provides a global platform for emerging African designers and models who are often underrepresented in the mainstream fashion world.

“The fashion industry holds enormous potential to transform lives, especially for women and youth,” said Serge Kabisoso, Co-Founder of Efigy Productions. “Over the last 11 years, we’ve seen that African fashion is not only about creativity—it’s about business, innovation, and empowerment. This year’s anniversary edition celebrates the richness and sustainability of African fashion.”

The 2025 theme, “Fashion Chic: Promoting Sustainability through Eco-Conscious Fashion Practices,” highlights the industry’s growing emphasis on sustainability. The event seeks to amplify eco-friendly solutions, promote inclusivity, and inspire the next generation of designers to adopt sustainable approaches in their creative processes.

In celebration of the anniversary, FWBA will host a Masterclass Series featuring top industry experts. These sessions will provide aspiring fashion professionals with critical insights and practical skills to thrive both locally and globally.

The event also includes a Kiddies Masterclass and two major fashion showcases, featuring over 15 designers and 40 up-and-coming models from various African countries. These showcases promise to be vibrant, thought-provoking, and a true reflection of Africa’s fashion future.

Fashion Without Borders Africa continues to be a transformative movement—creating opportunities for marginalized communities, elevating youth and women, and pushing for a more sustainable and inclusive fashion industry across the continent.
