KM: I’m so pleased to feature you! Tell us about Sally 8N as a person and as an artist.
S8N: Sally 8N is a very reserved person always humming melodies whenever a new melody comes up. She is a versatile artist who can blend effortlessly through genres.
KM: I read that you started singing in the church. Which church did you attend and how was it like singing for your fellow congregants?
S8N: Yes, I started singing in church. I’m an Adventist by birth. Both my parents grew up in the same church.
KM: When did you finally make the decision to become a singer and what was the driver behind your decision?
S8N: I have always known I was going to be an artist. I remember when I was young, I dreamt of an older version of myself singing on a bigger stage.
KM: You began recording about a decade ago but only released your first single “Wakuvhaira” in 2025. Why the long gap?
S8N: Firstly I had to finish school and when I was done with school most of the producers I used to know were all caught up with other things. I wrote “Wakuvhaira” some time back in 2019 and it was a song I related to the most.
KM: You have also released “Famba.” Tell us a bit about this single.
S8N: “Famba” is a very special song to me, it was my own way of motivating myself whenever I felt like giving up and I also think it can also help others in the same predicament.
KM: On the 24th of January we finally received your debut EP “Unrequited.” How was the process of getting this together and tell us about the project?
S8N: I wrote all songs from a very dark place it was my way of letting it all out hoping to heal from all I’ve been through.
KM: You are based in Kwekwe, have you ever felt that challenging and limiting coming from a small town and trying to build a music career?
S8N: Yes, I am from Kwekwe born and bred. It has never really been a limiting factor because I am part of a live band called the Groove Band from Kwekwe, we travel a lot and I already have people who appreciate me from other cities.
KM: What other challenges have you faced while working on your career?
S8N: Well, I don’t want to lie I have always been surrounded with a strong support system from my parents to the community as a whole.
KM: We are so happy to feature you Sally 8N! What are your final words for the readers?
S8N: You are welcome. I would like to thank you and also encourage all girls from small towns to follow their dreams; the sky is the limit.
