The Book titled The Supernatural Life was launched at House of Prayer Ministries in Gokwe Nembudziya on the 15th of November 2025. On this auspicious day which drew people of different statuses, the author Pastor Welensky Chakaamba gave a brief overview of the book enchanting all in attendance who held the book in hand.

This publication’s reporter Lingiwe Gumbo (LG) was able to interact with Pastor Welensky Chakaamba (WC) few days after the event, to get an insight about the book.

LG: Kindly introduce yourself.
WC: I am Welensky Chakaamba, born 27 September 1962, the first born of my mother. Born and raised in Bikita, Masvingo. Did my Primary education at various schools and completed Grade 7 at Devuli Primary School at Birchnough Bridge. Went to Jersey Secondary School, then to Chibuwe Secondary School where I completed Form 4, then Chaplin High School where I completed “A” level. Trained as Secondary school Science teacher at Hillside Teachers’ College, went further to do B.Ed Biology at the University of Zimbabwe, also did a Postgraduate Diploma in Science Education with UZ, and then an MEd with Zimbabwe Open University. Worked as a Science and Biology teacher at Takwirira, Hwadze and Nyamuroro Secondary school, as District Resource Teacher, Headmaster at Nembudziya Gvt school and District Elections Officer for Gokwe in Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. I am married and God blessed us with five children: 2 boys and 3 girls. I am also privileged to be a Pastor of House of Prayer Ministries.

LG: May you please give a brief overview of the book?
WC: The book, The Supernatural Life is about how one can be born again, embrace God’s goodness as your foundation, cultivate a Holy Spirit led lifestyle, strengthen your faith walk, activate your spiritual senses and experience victory in every area of your life to the glory of God.

LG: As the Pastor of House of Prayer Ministries, what has the years in ministry taught you?
WC: I have been a Pastor since 2008. The Pastoral office has many challenges, but in all the challenges we are assured of victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. As a pastor you have to develop the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, etc for you to nurture Christians in the faith work, you also have to lead by example: ” follow me as I follow Christ ” principle.

LG: The Launch was held at your church premises in Mtora, Nembudziya. How has the book been received in this remote rural area of Gokwe?
WC: The Supernatural Life book was very well received because on the launch night alone more than 150 books were bought and even now many orders of the book are being received.

LG: Is there a healthy reading culture in Gokwe? If not, how do you wish to encourage it?
WC: At the Growth Point we can say there’s a moderate reading culture which wanes gradually as we go further away from the Growth Point.

LG: Who did you have in mind when you wrote The Supernatural Life? Please explain
WC: Everybody, because the book shows you how to be born again and then how to grow in your faith journey, so the ” not born again ” can receive Christ and be a new creature and then grow up in the faith.

LG: Will there be more work from you in the near future?
WC: Yes, I have already started compilation of the second book which will be out next year 2026.

LG: Share any word of knowledge or motivation to the readers and any lesson learnt.
WC: What I have come to understand in this life, in the land of the living is that we are born here for a purpose, therefore we should live a purpose driven life. There are talents and special skills and gifts that the Lord God Almighty, the creator of heaven and earth, and our maker has blessed each and everyone of us with, which we should discover and use to the glory of God and for the benefit of humanity. On the Day of Judgment each and everyone of us should give account of how they lived on the earth. I encourage everyone reading this, not be found wanting. Don’t be like the Biblical one talent guy who did not use his talent.
