In Zimbabwe’s vibrant dance scene, one name is making waves—Amazing Prince. The 25-year-old choreographer and dancer stunned audiences at the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), showcasing his innovative style, infectious energy, and deep passion for dance. With a background rooted in church performances and wedding choreography, he has grown into one of Zimbabwe’s most exciting dance talents.

In an exclusive interview, Amazing Prince shared insights into his creative journey, inspirations, and future aspirations.

His journey began in the children’s ministry at ZAOGA, where he was part of the Kingdom Music and Dance Ministry. Over time, he expanded his craft, joining Superstar Dance Choreographers and working on wedding choreography.

“I love to learn and dance in different styles. As an Afro/Ndombolo choreographer, I incorporate various elements to make my work unique,” he said.

He has collaborated with top brands and companies, including Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation, Military Touch Movement, Dance Avenue, and MNM Dance Factory. His work has also been featured in campaigns for Econet, Old Mutual, Facet, and Condomize.

Preparing for NAMA was no easy feat. His team trained tirelessly from 8 AM to 5 PM daily throughout February.

“The experience was unforgettable. I had really missed performing on stage,” he shared.

Despite the intensity, his faith and perseverance kept him focused. “As a Christian dancer, I prayed that God would open doors for me after the performance,” he said.

The biggest challenge? Maintaining energy throughout the performance. However, rigorous rehearsals paid off, ensuring a seamless and powerful showcase.

His choreography process is deeply immersive.

“I listen to a song for hours, absorbing every beat before choreographing the chorus. Once that’s set, I flow with the rest of the song,” he explained.

For aspiring dancers, his advice is simple:

“Don’t get tired. Denzel Washington once said, ‘Ease is a greater threat to progress.’ Success comes through perseverance.”

Currently, Amazing Prince is a full-time dancer, fully committed to pushing the boundaries of Zimbabwean dance.

“I live as a dancer. I dance, dance, and dance!” he laughed.

While his professional career is thriving, he jokingly clarified his personal life:

“By the way, I’m not yet married, and I’m not searching (laughs).”

With his talent, drive, and passion, Amazing Prince is on a path to revolutionizing Zimbabwean dance, proving that dreams, discipline, and dedication can turn passion into greatness.
