Raza continued along with his fellow team members to fly the country’s flag high international, as he became the player of the year against Ireland.

Raza became the player of the match with 82 runs and one wicket.

Seeamers also did well to defend 174, although Fielding was worryingly sloppy at the end.

Wessley Madhevere had 22 runs and Lukr Jongwe 20 runs.

Team Ireland who was the opponent to Ireland had 143 runs 9.

Zimbabwe’s next game they will face West Indies before they end the group B, tournament with Scotland. The Chevrons will need to win the two matches to guarantee a place in the super 12 stage.

Zimbabwe is currently ranked 11th in the world ranking, and this is the Chevron’s first championship since 2016.

Only two spots are up for grabs in each group.

Another Southern Africa country in the tournament is the Eagles of Namibia whom in their first match, though defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets.

However, the Eagles faced off with Netherlands and Zimbabwe was defeated by five wickets.
