Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced recently that Zimbabwe will host India for a five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series in July. The series is set to take place from July 6 to 14, 2024, in Harare.

The confirmation of this tour follows productive discussions between ZC and the BCCI, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and promote collaboration between the two cricketing boards.

Tavengwa Mukuhlani, Chairman of ZC, expressed his excitement about hosting India for the T20I series, highlighting it as the most significant international event in Zimbabwe this year. He thanked the BCCI for committing to tour Zimbabwe once again and emphasized the positive influence and dedication to cricket that India brings to the sport.

BCCI Honorary Secretary, Jay Shah, emphasized the benefits of this partnership for both countries, particularly Zimbabwe, which is in a rebuilding phase in cricket. Shah reiterated the BCCI’s commitment to supporting fellow member boards and contributing to the global cricketing community. He stated that the BCCI aims to strengthen bilateral cricket and make it commercially viable, aligning with their vision for the growth and prosperity of cricket on the international stage.

However, despite these developments, some cricket fans from Bulawayo province expressed disappointment at being excluded from the event, as the entire series will be held in Harare.
