UK-based Zimbabwean philanthropist, multi-award-winning beauty queen, and author Amanda Ngcono Nkomo has been nominated for the prestigious Emerging Brands Africa Awards in the Diaspora category.

Born in Zimbabwe, Amanda relocated to the United Kingdom at the tender age of four. Despite growing up abroad, she has never forgotten her roots and continues to make a significant impact in her homeland.

Passionate about empowering young girls, Amanda is well known for her advocacy work focused on the rights of the girl child, particularly in the areas of education and empowerment.

Through her Ngcono Nkomo Foundation, which she established in 2019, Amanda has worked with numerous communities across Zimbabwe—both urban and rural—delivering tangible support to improve the lives of young girls.

Last month, she embarked on a charitable community outreach mission in Tsholotsho, located in Zimbabwe’s Matabeleland North province. During the visit, she engaged with local schools including Samahuru Primary and High School and Nanda Primary School.

At Nanda Primary School, Amanda and her team donated stationery for 550 pupils, sanitary wear, and paint for classroom renovations.

“Our first stop for our education school tour took us to Nanda Primary School in Tsholotsho. We donated supplies for 550 students and paints for their classrooms to be refurbished,” she said.

“It was an amazing programme, warmly received by the community in Nanda. Education is key, and every child should have access to it. We must keep building a world where education is truly accessible to all.”

In addition to her philanthropic work, Amanda also made waves in the literary space this March. She showcased one of her children’s books at the Black Book Marketplace in the UK—a major literary festival celebrating Black British authors, attended by thousands of book lovers.

Speaking on her nomination for the Emerging Brands Africa Awards, Amanda said she was both humbled and inspired:

“Every nomination I receive is a reminder to the girl child that they can rise to any level they desire. It’s not just about me—it’s about showing them what’s possible.”

Amanda was also previously nominated for a Humanitarian Award by the University of Wolverhampton Alumni Association in 2024.
