ZAPU is currently among the opposition political parties in the country who are eyeing for parliamentarian and council seats during the August 23rd elections.

The political party, which is led by Sibangilizwe Nkomo, kicked off their campaign across the country mainly in Bulawayo, Matabeleland North/South, Midlands, Manicaland, Mash West, Midlands.

The spokesperson of ZAPU, Msongelwa Ndlovu told My Afrika Magazine that they have managed to host successful campaigns, although some of them were cancelled due to the ban by those in police.

Ndlovu said, ZAPU’s manifesto is mainly about the about the people as the party is all about them.

ZAPU’s manifesto has mainly been about human security, universal suffrage, political and social-economic dignity.

Turning to the issue of disqualification of other political candidates that was made by the High Court in the upcoming elections.

ZAPU’s political party’s spokesperson said, as a party they condemn the use of courts in political battles.

When asked if they will be establishing a coalition agreement with any political party if the disqualification is upheld by the Supreme Court, especially when it comes to their members of Parliament working with other political parties’ councillors.

Msongelwa Ndlovu, told My Afrika Mag that ZAPU is ready and open to work with any political party that is in line with its party manifesto.

He however said they won’t engaging into coalition with the ruling party whether it’s in council.

ZAPU has at least four aspiring candidates for members of Parliament in Bulawayo.

The political party doesn’t have a presidential candidate.
