The October International Theatre Festival has officially launched in Eswatini, bringing together actors, theatre practitioners, creatives, partners and theatre lovers ahead of the festival.

The launch was an evening of performances, conversations and reconnecting, with creatives sharing ideas and building excitement for what lies ahead.

At the heart of the festival is the power of theatre to tell stories about people, families, society and everyday life. For audiences, it is more than watching a play, it is an opportunity to connect with stories and sometimes see reflections of their own lives on stage.

Among the Zimbabwean productions set to be showcased is The Taking, alongside a programme featuring work from across the region, including Workshop on Dance and Theatre by Dr Disi Sindo (South Africa) and Mara Gwaza (Mozambique), Last Steps from Eswatini, and Through the Shadows from Zambia.

The launch also highlighted the importance of the artists, sponsors, partners and stakeholders whose support continues to keep the theatre industry moving.

As the curtain prepares to rise, the October International Theatre Festival promises audiences creativity, powerful stories and a celebration of the arts, while creating space for communities to connect through theatre.
