From the dusty streets of Dzivarasekwa to dreaming of Paris, Milan and Berlin Fashion Week, Tracey Kache is proving that Zimbabwean heritage belongs on the global luxury stage.
Born on November 21, 1996, Tracey’s journey is not just one of fashion, but it is a story of resilience, purpose, identity, and legacy. Raised between Harare and Madamombe Village in Murewa after economic hardships forced her family to relocate, life dealt her painful challenges early on. At just 12 years old, she lost her father, a tragedy that could have silenced her dreams. Instead, it strengthened her determination.
Supported through her education by Heather Chimhoga Orphan Care Initiative, Tracey held tightly onto a vision many around her did not understand. Choosing Arts and Fashion Design was met with doubt and resistance, but she remained unwavering. She later graduated from Chinhoyi University of Technology with a First Class Degree in Clothing Fashion Design and Creative Arts, a powerful statement that passion backed by purpose always speaks louder than limitation.
Today, Tracey is the founder of YarnHoney Collections, a Zimbabwean luxury fashion brand redefining culture through contemporary elegance. Inspired by her mother’s connection with local tailors and her late grandmother’s gifted crotchet artistry, Tracey transformed generational craftsmanship into a modern luxury movement.
What began during the COVID-19 lockdown as a deeper exploration of crochet under the guidance of her mentor, Mrs. Mafuwa, slowly evolved into a vision bigger than fashion itself. Despite struggling to secure formal employment after university, Tracey took on various jobs, including domestic work, while continuing to build her dream piece by piece.
Her handcrafted crochet safari totems eventually began attracting attention after she gifted them to influential individuals. Opportunities followed. Doors slowly opened. Then in 2023, someone believed in her vision enough to help bring it to life.
In 2024, YarnHoney Collections was officially registered.
Today, the brand is becoming known for its bold yet refined use of Zimbabwe’s national fabric, transforming what was once viewed through political lenses into luxury office wear, elegant blazers, formal attire and globally appealing contemporary fashion.
Through collections such as 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗶 𝘄𝗲𝗗𝘇𝗶𝘃𝗮, inspired by the majesty of Victoria Falls, and 𝗡𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗡𝗼𝗶𝗿, rooted in the symbolism of the historic Hungwe Bird, Tracey is telling Zimbabwe’s story through fabric, texture and design.
Her mission is clear: to ensure Zimbabwean identity is not only preserved, but celebrated worldwide.
“For me, fashion is not just design, it is identity, heritage, and legacy. I am committed to transforming Zimbabwean culture into globally recognized luxury. What was once seen as ordinary, I choose to present it as exceptional. I am not just designing garments, I am defining how Zimbabwean identity is seen, worn, and remembered,” says Tracey.
In a world where African creativity is finally taking its rightful place, Tracey Kache is emerging as one of the young visionaries boldly reshaping the narrative, proving that heritage can be powerful, elegant and timeless.
This is more than fashion.
This is Zimbabwe, tailored in luxury.
