Harare is set to witness a groundbreaking addition to Zimbabwe Fashion Week (ZFW) 2025, as organizers announce the Hunhu Council of Fashion Business Program, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to push the local and continental fashion industry beyond the runway. ZFW will run from 8 to 12 October 2025, at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Harare (The Meikles).

Running alongside the fashion showcases this October, the program will feature daily talks and knowledge-sharing sessions that focus on education, innovation, sustainability, and community building. What makes the initiative even more inclusive is its accessibility, open to all ticket holders who want to take part in the conversations shaping the future of African fashion.

The Hunhu Council Business Program already boasts an impressive lineup of thought leaders and trailblazers. Among them is Kay Terera, an accomplished creative, designer, and academic whose work bridges culture, entrepreneurship, and education. Joining her is Krystal Phillip, a Caribbean-American designer and founder of KAPHILL, who brings over 15 years of global fashion experience with iconic brands including Alexander Wang, Tommy Hilfiger, Macy’s, and Gap Inc.

Also confirmed is Sevious Mushosho, Group CEO for Edgars Stores Limited, and Fellow Chartered Accountant with over two decades of executive leadership, currently heading one of Southern Africa’s largest fashion retail groups. His expertise in finance, retail, and regional markets will offer rare insight into the business side of fashion. Mr. Mushosho has held executive positions in several businesses in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Mauritius, including Distribution Group Africa, AfriAsia Holdings Limited, Innscor Africa, and Sub Sahara Capital Group. Also part of the first list of speakers is Makeba Boateng, founder of Fashion Forum Africa, cultural heritage advocate, and accredited appraiser dedicated to preserving and advancing Africa’s fashion and textile heritage.

According to organizers, this is only the beginning. More speakers and perspectives are set to be unveiled as the program builds momentum. With this bold step, ZFW 2025 aims to not only showcase style on the runway but also create a dynamic platform where fashion, beauty, music, and design intersect to power the future of Zimbabwean and African creativity.
