The festival director, Philippa Ama Bentuma Arthur, expressed her gratitude to all attendees, filmmakers, industry professionals, and guests from around the world. She emphasized the festival’s significant role in promoting African cinema, fostering fresh talent, and amplifying voices often underrepresented in global film markets.

Arthur also extended a heartfelt thanks to major sponsors such as the EU-Ghana, SilverBird Cinemas, and the many volunteers who make BSIFF a reality. The festival’s volunteers are particularly noteworthy, as they have been the driving force behind the festival’s success since its inception. Arthur described them as the true MVPs, stating, BSIFF will not exist without volunteers. Everyone who runs the festival is a volunteer—from the director to the advisory and project teams. The passion and commitment of our volunteers, both local and international, fuel the festival to keep going!”

Among these volunteers is Taylor Dews, a cultural anthropology PhD student at New York University, who shared her experience with BSIFF: “It’s been absolutely amazing. The work that Black Star is doing is incredible and inspiring. I’m excited to return for the festival in September and see what it brings to the film industry both here in Ghana and internationally.”

With a strong foundation built on the passion of its volunteers and the support of institutions like the New York University, BSIFF continues to attract attention from global audiences. Volunteers from high-profile institutions and local communities alike have played an essential role in shaping the festival’s identity, ensuring its ongoing impact on African cinema.

As the festival progresses, BSIFF aims to inspire the next generation of African filmmakers, encourage fresh voices, and promote a rich tapestry of African narratives. The festival concludes with a message of inspiration and gratitude, wishing all participants a memorable and successful festival experience.
