On November 3rd, Alliance Française de Bulawayo welcomed acclaimed visual artist Descent Nyoni for a captivating solo exhibition. The exhibition ran under the theme, From Grass to Grace.

Hailing from Gweru, Nyoni has been making waves in the Zimbabwean art scene with his evocative and thought-provoking works. Nyoni’s artistic journey began at an early age, and his passion for visual storytelling has only grown over the years. He describes his art as a powerful medium for capturing the essence of rural Zimbabwean life, showcasing its beauty, challenges, and unique cultural identity.

“Most of my paintings speak about the way we live in the rural areas,” he said.

He elaborated that his artworks reflect the recent developments and transformations taking place in rural Zimbabwe, highlighting the progress and aspirations of the communities.

Descent Nyoni, a budding visual artist is mentored by the renowned multi-award-winning artist Keith Zenda, a testament to his promising path in the Zimbabwean art scene. The event attracted a diverse audience, including esteemed celebrities from across the city and a passionate crowd of visual art enthusiasts.
